Tree of the Year Competition Results October 29th

Screenshot of the Woodland Trust ‘Tree of the Year’ Competition.

Twelve mighty oaks have been short-listed this year.  All but one over 400 years old and the oldest as much as 1,200 years.  Associated with famous people such as Elizabeth I, Charles Darwin, H G Wells and others.

I have looked at the website at 4.30pm today and no result listed that I can find on the Woodland Trust Site, But google AI says:

‘The Woodland Trust’s 2024 Tree of the Year is the Capon Oak in Jedburgh, Scottish Borders. The Capon Oak is a remnant of the ancient Jedforest and one of the last surviving trees from the area. Its unusual shape may have saved it from being felled because its wood would have been of little use for shipbuilding.’

I’m guessing the woodland trust will update their website sometime soon and assuming google AI has information from a press release?
